Forbes: 18 Industry Events To Know If You’re A Marketing Or Creative Professional

Wal-Mart.com USA, LLC

When Imani Ellis invited a few close friends to her Harlem apartment for tacos one evening in 2017, she set out to create a brave space where they could network and harness each other’s talents. Her passion project, The Creative Collective NYC, has since evolved into one of New York City’s fastest-growing communities for creatives of color. Through a series of intimate popups leading up to the tentpole CultureCon, now in its third year, CCNY curates spaces where creatives and entrepreneurs get unfiltered inspiration from influential people.

“We are not a monolith—we are complex and layered individuals, and I think that CultureCon touches on all of the things that make us who we are,” said Ellis. “What makes us really special is we’re asking people to show up exactly as they are.” After last year’s conference racked up a 500-person-long wait-list, CultureCon 2019 will quadruple in size to host over 2,000 attendees and add a week of programming leading up to the daylong event, Ellis said.
